Detion launches passport-based global verification app’DM Plus 2.0′
‘Detion’ has launched’DM Plus 2.0′, a passport-based mobile authentication service app.
The mobile app DM Plus authenticates global users using passport data extracted with OCR and user data collected through authorization. Currently, global users are authenticated at Lotte Duty Free Online (Traditional Mall, English Mall, Vietnam Mall, Simplified Mall) and Hyundai Duty Free Online (Jungmun Mall, Korean Mall). When a customer selects international credit card payment at an online duty-free shop, the DM Plus app requests user data including passports to the customer for payment, and the DM Plus app authenticates the user by passing the registered data to the merchant. Through this, the risk of potential fraudulent and fraudulent transactions that may occur at each duty-free shop is prevented.
This release of DM Plus 2.0 service has enhanced authentication functions compared to the previous 1.0 version. In particular, passport authentication was reinforced with real passport authentication using the NFC chip of the passport and biometric authentication using facial recognition technology. If the existing DM Plus 1.0 only extracted passport information using OCR, in 2.0, the NFC chip embedded in the passport was read through a mobile device to determine whether the passport was a real passport, and the passport photo and the real user’s face were matched using facial recognition technology. Judge whether or not. With this authentication function, the actual passport data owned by the real user can now be registered in the DM Plus mobile app, and merchants using the DM Plus authentication service will be able to use it for authentication.
CEO Yang Woo-seok said, “With the corona crisis, e-commerce and non-face-to-face payments are rapidly growing, and fraudulent transaction attempts and damage cases are increasing. In particular, cross-border e-commerce targeting foreigners, not Koreans, suffers more damage due to the lack of authentication means that can authenticate global users. It is expected that the DM Plus service can be used in the travel industry such as airlines and hotels, and the number of franchisees will gradually increase.”
Established in 2020, Detion was recognized for its global authentication service using passports, attracted investment from the Big Bang Angels Investment Association and Eximbay, a global PG company, and received a startup guarantee from the Credit Guarantee Fund. It is attracting.
